The Star & Dove
Seriously Something to Experience
I have just enjoyed one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. My husband and I regulary visit restaurants around Bristol & Bath and they range from 'terrible' to 'worth a look.' This is something to really experience. The food was absolutely stunning, upstairs in the restaurant. I had the charcuterie plate to start with, with cured italian meats, potted pork, cornichons and grisini. A perfect start, the meat tasted flavorsome and rich and washed down with a bottle of Chianti I was already hooked. My main course was Lamb. I cannot even start to express how well this was cooked. the meat fell away from the bone like silk and melted on my pallet like foam but left the wonderful taste of fresh lamb. It was beautifully pink inside sat on a bed of beautiful lentils (that I don't normally like) but set the meal off perfectly. I finished up with a warm chocolate mousse cake that was perfectly rich and creamy with a raspberry style sauce and a poached fig. Eamon Fullalove (of Jamie Oliver fame I was told by the lovely blond waitress) has made a grotty spit and sawdust pub into a force to be reckoned with. The pub had a fantastic atmosphere and I was informed there is a a range of things going on during the week from a pub Quiz on mondays, pizza and pasta on tuesdays and a very popular steak night on wednesdays. Go and visit the star and dove you wont be disappointed.

The Hole in the Wall
Excellent Quality: Again!
Yet another excellent dinner at "The Hole" Quality is always good, ample sized portions, friendly helpful "crew on board" We'd go more often, with or without the card if there were more frequent changes to the menu!
